Liu Shifu was born in 1966 in Guangshan, the old revolutionary base of the Dabie Mountains. I am currently a member of the Henan Provincial Artists Association and Vice Chairman of the Wenfeng District Artists Association in Anyang.

I first learned about flowers and birds from Mr. Tian Qing at Xinyang Normal School. I thought I couldn't indulge myself and pursued the study of mountains and rivers. I deeply enjoyed Gong Xian and Hongren in the early Qing Dynasty, and my heart was drawn to them.

It is advisable to read classic works passed down by ancient sages such as Huang Gongwang and Wang Meng from the Yuan Dynasty. And draw nourishment from the works of modern masters such as Huang Binhong, Huang Qiuyuan, and Li Keran to enrich oneself.

Occasionally, I also participate in exhibitions related to domestic and provincial art associations, and often gain something. The works are permanently collected by national and provincial museums, and some are also collected by individuals overseas.

The ancients often said that:Painters are beyond poetry. Poets are beyond literature. Those who write are beyond the Tao. Only by observing objects can one achieve knowledge. Only by following nature can one understand the Tao. Understanding reason and the Tao is the way for a learner.

In 2006, I left my hometown and traveled to Funiu in western Henan, Wangwu in northern Henan, and Taihang. I was deeply attracted by the vastness, grandeur, steepness, and grandeur of Taihang.

Since 2008, I have been living in seclusion in the Taihang Mountains, observing the changes of mountains and rivers throughout the four seasons, savoring the lingering charm of wind, clear rain, and snow, and reading the vast expanse of sunrise and sunset.

Every night, when the sound is quiet and the moon is vast, washing the heart and purifying the mind, experiencing the spiritual energy of heaven and earth, and observing the mysteries of nature, it is also a joy in life.
